What if you could live a football match from the point of view of thousands of fans?
In recent years, Paris Saint-Germain has become one of the most popular football clubs in the world. Millions watch their matches, yet only 46,580 lucky fans get to experience them from the Parc des Princes. Google aims to enhance every experience. So we asked how we could open the stadium atmosphere to millions of supporters around the world. There is the story happening on the pitch, PARISTORIES helps you see the 46,580 Stories happening away from it.
To achieve that challenge we created "PARISTORIES", a Google-powered platform using the Photo feature to help people experience a stadium like never before. People from all over the world were now able to watch a game from any angle they wanted.
To properly document these stories, we invited fans to upload their content on Google+ using #Paristories. For every match, we equipped fans, PSG staff and VIPs with Nexus phones to cover every angle of the Parc des Princes. Even the most exclusive and unreachable spots. The best content uploaded was curated retrieved and displayed as a chronological, mixed media match résumé. Each Paristories angle was different, only fueled by the User-generated content shared by our fans.
Less than twelve hours after the match, every fan could experience the Parc Des Princes in an unprecedented way. By allowing multiple angles, immersive sound and 360 degree images, never before was a football match this immersive. With each highlight seen from as many angles as possible, our matches became the most fan-documented football matches ever. With 200.000 visitors spending an average of 12 minutes on the platform and 30 M social impressions, Proving Google to be a key actor in sports and presented Google Photos as an amazing way to convey emotions throughout the world. Paristories was a resounding success. Revolutionizing the viewing of the most popular sport on the planet.
